Matthew Dudley achieved a record settlement for Tazewell County against a national nursing home chain. The case settled for $775,000 for injuries to a resident who was recovering from an ankle fracture. While at the nursing home, she developed a massive bedsore that required multiple surgeries. The wound did not heal until she was transferred to a specialty care hospital, where she underwent four surgeries, including the removal of her tailbone. Before the ankle fracture, she had been living independently in her own home.
