Jesse Placher recovered $675,000 from a downstate nursing home for the death of a female aged 74 years, leaving three children. She went to the nursing home for therapy after a hip fracture. Within approximately one week of admission, she was noted to have cloudy urine in her catheter. Absolutely no action was taken by the nursing home in response. Approximately five days later, she was found unresponsive and sent to the local emergency room, where they discovered foul-smelling, dark, cloudy urine with sediment and mucus threads in the catheter. She was found to have a UTI that progressed to sepsis with multiorgan system failure, resulting in her death the next day.
