Jesse Placher recovered $2.5 million from a downstate hospital for a man with partial paraplegia who ultimately required bilateral lower extremity amputations. The man was admitted for emergency spine surgery. After surgery, he was found to have almost no use of his extremities. Wraps were applied to his legs, with instructions for them to be regularly removed and then re-wrapped. The wraps were left on for several straight days. When the wraps were ultimately removed, the man’s legs were severely injured. His injuries led to infections that ultimately cost the man both of his legs.
