Kevin Golden reached a $1 million settlement with a Western Illinois medical facility and the emergency room doctor who treated the deceased plaintiff. The plaintiff was a senior at Western Illinois University and went to the emergency room because she had taken an antibiotic and was experiencing itching and shortness of breath. The plaintiff had previously suffered from allergic reactions after taking antibiotics. The emergency room doctor diagnosed the plaintiff with anxiety and discharged her home. The plaintiff was found dead in her apartment three days later, and the cause of death was anaphylaxis consistent with a drug-induced allergy.
