Matthew Dudley achieved a record settlement for Tazewell County against a national nursing home chain. The case settled for $775,000 for injuries to a resident who was recovering from an ankle fracture. While at the nursing home, she developed a massive bed sore that required multiple surgeries. The wound did not heal until she was transferred to a specialty care hospital where she underwent four surgeries including the removal of her tailbone. Before the ankle fracture she had been living independently in her own home.
The settlement is the highest nursing home settlement in the history of Tazewell County
